Bathroom Remodeling

Custom tile showers are the most requested part of our bathroom work. A good one feels like a spa. A bad one starts leaking behind the tile within a few years, and you won't know until the damage is done. The difference is almost entirely in what you can't see after it's finished.

Every shower we build starts with a waterproofing system installed under the tile, not just cement board and hope. We set proper slope to the drain, waterproof every seam and niche, and flood-test the pan before tile goes down. From there we handle tile layout, niches, benches, glass enclosures and fixtures. A lot of homes in Fairfield, West Chester and Hamilton still have the original steel or fiberglass tub with a plastic surround. If nobody in the house takes baths, that tub is mostly in the way. Converting it to a walk-in shower gives you more usable space, makes the bathroom easier to get in and out of, and instantly updates the room.

We remove the old tub, rework the drain and valve location as needed, build a new waterproofed shower base, and tile it out. If you want to keep one tub in the house for resale or for kids, we'll talk through which bathroom makes the most sense to convert.

The vanity is where you spend most of your time in a bathroom, so it should have real storage and good light. We install single and double vanities, floating vanities, linen towers and medicine cabinets, with quartz or solid-surface tops. Lighting should come from the sides or above the mirror to avoid shadows, with a separate light in the shower if the room is large.

Ventilation is the most overlooked part of a bathroom remodel. An undersized or poorly vented exhaust fan leads to peeling paint, mold and swollen trim. We size fans to the room and vent them outside, not into the attic.

If you're planning to stay in your home long-term or have a family member with limited mobility, a few changes make a big difference. Low or zero-threshold showers, grab bars with solid blocking behind the wall, comfort-height toilets, handheld shower sprayers, slip-resistant tile and wider doorways all make a bathroom safer without making it look like a hospital room.

We can add these features as part of a full remodel or as targeted updates. If you think you'll want grab bars later, we'll install the blocking now so they can go anywhere you need them.

Older bathrooms in Hamilton's historic districts, Oxford's Mile Square and downtown Monroe often come with cast iron drains, galvanized supply lines, rotted subfloor around the toilet, and tile set in a thick mud bed. We plan for those conditions and replace what needs replacing while the walls are open, so you're not paying to tear out a new bathroom in five years because of an old pipe.
